Factors contributing to diffuse hair loss
- A diet too restrictive.
- A serious accident.
- Important psycho-shocked.
- A stress.
- General anesthesia.
- Surgical shock.
- High fever and prolonged.
- Bleeding.
- Taking certain medications: chemotherapy, psychotropic, antihypertensives, anticoagulants, anti-inflammatory, brain scan.
- The hormonal changes: after puberty, during the 2-3 months after delivery, at the time of menopause, for 2 to 3 months after cessation of oral contraception (the pill).
- Anemia: iron deficiency can slow the process of hair regrowth. It is common in women, particularly in cases of heavy periods and during pregnancy. This factor is easily removed by performing a blood test.
- A thyroid disorder: a malfunction of the thyroid gland results in a set of non-specific symptoms such as weight change, heart rhythm disorder, fatigue, etc.. So hair loss associated with these symptoms may suggest a thyroid origin. To remove any doubt, simply consult your doctor to perform a blood test of thyroid hormones.
Note that some factors trigger hair loss sudden and brutal (stress, anesthesia, fever, shock psycho ...) and others a more gradual fall (hormonal changes, medications, thyroid disorder, anemia ...).
When hair loss is diffuse, it is sufficient to eliminate or treat the trigger to stop it. Where this is not possible, it is best to consult for the prevention and reassurance.
There is another form of hair loss: localized to certain areas. This is usually one or alopecia areata, which always requires a consultation.
Finally, attacks the scalp are the cause of hair loss localized: chemicals (dyes, perms, curling, straightening), braids or buns too tight.
